Come sing Happy Birthday to Earth at Storyhour Thursday! — Reporter Tryon May Begin Curbside Recycling There is a "strong likelihood” that Tryon will begin a curbside recycling program of its own this year. Town Manager Barry G. Richards said Tuesday. For months now. town and Polk County officials have been trying to work out an agreement where by the town would participate in the county's recycling program. Polk County Solid Waste Manager David Draughn designed a program which would have each town set up a recycling site. But Tryon wanted St per mile, round trip, for delivering the recycled materials from its site to the county's collection point at the landfill. On Monday, the Polk County Board of Commissioners decided simply to table Tryon's request and wait and see what Tryon Continued On Back Page
